How to locate a refrigerator model number
The best way to identify your refrigerator water filter is to locate the model number, on your refrigerator. Don’t waste your time pulling the refrigerator out from the wall and looking on the back. Refrigerator manufacturers have long known that if they want to sell refrigerator water filters and replacement refrigerator parts, the model number needs to be somewhere where a consumer or technician can easily locate it.
That label can be found inside the refrigerator or freezer on the upper left or right side wall. Sometimes it is located glued to the wall of the fresh food section alongside the crisper drawer to the left or right. You will have to remove the crisper drawer, put your glasses on, or contact a young person to read the number.
On some models the model and serial number tag is located behind the toe plate, sometimes called the kick plate. Most toe plates on refrigerators just snap off. Remove the toe plate and you will see the model and serial mumber tag on these models.
Sometime refrigerator manufacturers use owners guides to cover many models of refrigerators. This is why you should not rely on your owner’s guide for your model number. Furthermore, engineering changes made after the books have been printed might result in a different filter used on your particular refrigerator. Bottom line, anytime you order a refrigerator water filter, or refrigerator replacement part, always use the model number located on the model number tag. |
